Running Group 2013 - Week 1

Never in a million years did I think I would be running...joining a running group...or training for a 1/2 marathon.  But guess what?  I'm doing all three.


My alarm was set for 540a.  I woke up at 530a anxious for what the day would bring and also a little nervous about staying on schedule for the morning.  Since Casey was working, this meant I needed childcare.  By 615a the girls and I were out the door heading to Heather's house where she had arranged for a sitter.  Heather is also training and she also claims "she's not a runner". 

The route this morning was five miles.  Yes, five miles!  I am still trying to figure out how and where to put the miscellaneous "stuff" I bring with me (ie phone, keys, iPod, etc.).  I spent the first 8 minutes of the run, trying to get my iPod playing and put away.  The first mile was up hill and never ending.  My goal for today was to run the entire five miles without walking.  I know I will be slow, but I just keep running.  Needless to say, I met my goal.

This coming week will include two days of running and two days of cross-training.  Bring on the week!
