Happy New Year 2014

It was a rare New Year's Day in our house. Casey actually had the day off - woo hoo! I've been wanting to go to the painted plate in downtown Olympia for awhile now but wanted to wait until Brooke was a little older.  Since we all had the day off what fun would it be to go on New Year's Day? 

It was a good thing I made reservations they were busy! When we got there our table was all set up and ready to go. First, we needed to pick out a piece of pottery to work with. This was a little overwhelming for the girls. They wanted to do it all! I quickly decided I needed to keep it simple - we would ALL do a plate. 

Next, what type if design? They have so many ideas on the walls. The assortment of colors was amazing. So many options! 

Morgan decided on a peace sign pattern and Brooke went for a heart. The girls had so much fun. Brooke was a little crazy with all the excitement and it took some reeling in but we managed. 

Casey even got into it and decided on a seashell theme. I attempted to do some dots but they look more like clouds. 

I really enjoyed our family time together and will treasure the pieces we made forever.  My only suggestion would be to only let the kids do a piece. They needed a lot of assistance and it was difficult to complete my own piece. After all it's really their work that I will want to keep forever.

Pumpkin Patch 2012

What an amazing September and early October we had here.  We decided we needed to head to the pumpkin patch before the rain hit and I'm so glad we did - It was GORGEOUS!

There is so much to do at this pumpkin patch, it's hard to decide what to do first.  We decided the first stop on the agenda was picking out a pumpkin.  We all loaded up on the tractor for our short ride to the pumpkin patch.

Trying to find the perfect pumpkin is a tough task. First, we need to be able to carry it out of the field and second it can't be icky.  With some help, we all found our perfect pumpkin.

Now that we have our pumpkins, time to enjoy the sea of orange.

Enough time soaking up the sun, it's back on the tractor we go!

While daddy took our perfect pumpkins to the car, we enjoyed some the activities at the farm, like the giant slide!

 

Whenever we mention pumpkin patch to Brooke all she remembers is riding the pony from last year.  She was so excited to ride the pony we couldn't get those tickets fast enough.

She knew exactly what to do, she knew how to roll her hips as the pony walked, she even knew how to see "Weeee Haw!" Yes, that's correct, she says "weeee" and I don't correct her because I think she sounds so cute.  She didn't really care about doing anything else except ride the pony.

Morgan opted to take a ride on the quads with her four tickets.  It was great to see that the only kiddos taking a spin where GIRLS! 

Of course when Morgan realized there were enough tickets left for both girls to take another spin on the ponies, she wasn't going to pass up that opportunity.

Thanks to sunny skies, perfect pumpkins and great company, it was another successful trip to the pumpkin patch.

 

4th of July Parade

We really enjoy the 4th of July parade in Tumwater. We're aren't always able to go because our camping trips are usually scheduled around the same time. This year was an at home year so we were able to go! Morgan's school puts together a float for the parade and any student is invited to ride along. Morgan didn't even hesitate when I asked her if she wanted to join them.

Casey delivered Morgan to the designated float location and we quickly found a spot along the parade route. And patiently waited for the parade to start.

Our mamma came along this year.

Finally the EOE float made its appearance! The kids looked a little tired as they faded in and out of chants, but Morgan was thrilled when she spotted us in the crowd.

The parade was a success and she said even though she was a little bored, she wants to do it again next year.
